Summary

The Environmental GIS Analyst is responsible for the development and maintenance of environmental GIS data across multiple projects nationwide. This position requires the analyst to incorporate data from various sources, apply quality control checks, and standardize data according to Ahtna standard operating procedures, contract requirement, and/or client specifications. In addition to GIS data management, the GIS Analyst will provide GIS support to Ahtna Solutions Environmental program and project managers, including creating visual graphics that support planning and reporting documents; a primary role of the GIS Analyst is to serve as a point of contact for all GIS and graphic-related activities, with regular engagement with Ahtna Solutions Environmental program, project managers, and staff, requiring collaboration on projects, providing status updates, and presenting finding to small groups. The GIS Analyst may supervise other GIS personnel engaged in performing a variety of routine to moderately difficult technical duties in maintaining and supporting Ahtna's GIS databases.

The salary range for this position is $62,221/year-$119,471/year, please note this is a tiered position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•  Data Development and maintenance for all environmental GIS data within Ahtna Diversified Holdings
•  Exercise initiative, resourcefulness, and professional judgment in the direction and establishment of technology solutions for the company
•  Incorporate data from disparate sources and apply quality control checks.
•  Manage geospatial data and create baseline maps as requested by project staff
•  Produce maps and geospatial deliverables that are clear, accurate, and understandable
•  Database loading, data conversion, attribute development, and metadata maintenance
•  Assist in the production of database analysis and technical reports
•  Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting to end users of the system
•  Review and convert content to appropriate file format for upload
•  Collect current information from project stakeholders
•  Maintain administrative and technical productivity through supervisory and independent responsibility, exercises judgment, and make technical decisions
•  Oversee maintenance of organized files for maps, computer reports, field surveys, and other data
•  Providing interface between GIS staff and consulting professionals working within the organizations

•  Design, develop, test, and troubleshoot GIS applications; train GIS staff on the use of applications

•  Lead technical project execution and document preparation, peer review project documents
•  Assist with task order and project proposals Level - Senior
•  Ability to work independently and collaboratively, taking initiative to resolve issues.
•  Design, develop, test, and troubleshoot GIS applications; train GIS staff on the use of applications
•  Provide client assistance to program and project managers; scope, schedule, and budget for project
•  Lead technical project execution and document preparation, senior review project graphics documents, and client specific submittal requirements (i.e., MED)
•  Prepare task orders and project proposals
•  Project staffing and technical mentoring
•  Develop and maintain a network of contacts in the IS/GIS industry for professional development, partnership opportunities, and technical support
•  Assist with designing and implementing subsidiary-wide graphic standards for various client programs
•  Oversee maintenance of organized files for maps, computer reports, field surveys, and other data
•  Provide an interface between GIS staff, data management, and consulting professionals working within the organization and managing the data visualization project support service at the subsidiary level.
•  Perform any other duties as assigned by management Minimum Qualifications

All levels
•  Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, geographic information systems, geography, environmental science, or related fields
•  Current driver's license with clean driving record, ability to be covered by company insurance Level - I
•  One (1) to three (3) years of relevant working experience. Specialized training and/or advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience
•  One (1) to three (3) years of experience in environmental-related GIS, Esri's ArcGIS software, and cartography
•  One (1) to three (3) years of experience applying spatial data standards, data development, and data maintenance Level - II
•  Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant working experience. Specialized training and/or advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience
•  Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in environmental-related GIS, Esri's ArcGIS software, and cartography
•  Three (3) to five (5) years of experience applying spatial data standards, data development, and data maintenance Level - III
•  Five (5) to eight (8) years of relevant working experience. Specialized training and/or advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience
•  Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience in environmental-related GIS, Esri's ArcGIS software, and cartography
•  Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience applying spatial data standards, data development, and data maintenance Level - Senior
•  Eight (8) or more years of relevant working experience. Specialized training and/or advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience
•  Eight (8) or more years of experience in environmental-related GIS, Esri's ArcGIS software, and cartography
•  Eight (8) or more years of experience applying spatial data standards, data development, and data maintenance Preferred Qualifications
•  GIS Certificate/Degree (Geomatics)
•  Experience working on projects with Federal clients
•  Experience working in a highly structured organization
•  Knowledge of military instructions, directives, guidance, and environmental regulations
•  Familiarity with geospatial documentation and metadata
•  Experience with various geospatial standards including, but not limited to SDSFIE and ISO or FGDC standards
•  Field data collection methods using GPS equipment and post-processing of data
•  Knowledge and experience with Alaska Native cultures Shareholder Preference:
