The East Rochester Girls' Basketball program is currently seeking a dynamic and transformational leader to serve as its next Junior Varsity Basketball Coach.
In addition to coaching the JV team, responsibilities include:
- Strong leadership skills, a positive, education-based approach, and a deep understanding of the game are valued.
- Candidates must have a strong understanding of fitness and training regimens appropriate for high school athletes.
- Candidates should be energetic and motivated and willing to commit the required time to building the program, recruiting and training assistant coaches, and contributing to the overall learning community.
- Previous coaching experience is preferred.
Job Qualifications
Candidates should:
- Have the ability to teach fundamental skills and team concepts of basketball
- Have a dynamic personality who will get the entire community involved in basketball
- Be able to interact with student-athletes of different ages and skill levels in a positive and professional manner.
- Demonstrate a high degree of integrity as the staff is considered to be role models for students.
- Motivate and mentor student-athletes.
- Communicate with school administration and basketball families.
Coaching Requirements:
- A valid New York State teaching certificate in Physical Education (K-12) or another teaching area.
- A Professional Coaching Certificate or eligibility for a Temporary Coaching License.
- Valid and appropriate First Aid, CPR, and AED certificates for coaches at the time of appointment.
- Willingness to complete the Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse and SAVE Workshops within the first year of coaching.
- Willingness to enroll in and complete the Coaching Eligibility Program through the Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES ) or Monroe 1 BOCES ) (or equivalent program)
