Short DescriptionResponsible for functioning as GI technician on all endoscopic procedures. Assists physicians in obtaining all specimens; i.e., biopsies, polypectomies, and cultures. Assists physicians on all therapeutic procedures; Assist with procedures per SGNA guideline. Participates in GI tech call rotation. Prepares, cleans, and maintains Endoscopy room and equipment. Sets up and cleans Endoscopy room. Assists nurse with transferring and positioning patients. Is responsible for care, maintenance, and cleaning of all endoscopes and accessories as per ST: 91 Standard. Is responsible for cleaning and maintenance of automatic endoscope reprocessor including hoses, adaptors, and disinfectant/high level disinfectant. Handles and safely stores all endoscopy equipment: Follows all manufacturers' instruction for use when doing decon and using OER-Pro equipment. Is responsible for safety checks of endoscopy equipment, sending endoscopes out for repair, and maintaining computer log book. Maintains all logs and documentation within the scope decon and OER-Pro areas. Maintains patient safety at all times including during use of electrocautery devices. Assures patient care is delivered according to Safety Guidelines and Universal Precautions Practices as per SGNA Standard of Care. Maintains adequate par levels of all Endoscopy supplies and personal protective equipment. Troubleshoots malfunctioning endoscopes and removes from service those scopes with positive leak test.
