Key Responsibilities

The QC Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of seismic data. This includes performing quality control and oversight on the metadata captured by the Indexing Department, as well as handling short-period transcription tasks. Assigned to various clients and regions, the QC Technician will evaluate a wide range of seismic data, including well logs, well support data, navigation information, and all forms of geophysical and geological subsurface support data. Utilizing geophysical best practices and industry standards, alongside KDM workflows and processes, the technician will focus on identifying project issues and implementing corrective measures independently. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity and quality of our data offerings.

Tasks:
  • Review and QC all aspects of short period transcription jobs and iGlass ingestion jobs to ensure job requirements have been met, and quality maintained.
  • Index and QC Data and meta-data using internal and external tools: including SeisSee, SegDSee, Neuralog, Microsoft Excel, KIT QC, iGlass, etc. using PC and Linux workstations.
  • Research lines and data within iGlass to identify/prevent duplication as per client profiles.
  • Update Work Management Tool with comments and billing information for each job.
  • Communicate with Account Managers, Computer Operators, and Indexers to solve problems related to data integrity.
Skills:
  • Highly proficient in oral and written English communication.
  • Interacts with people effectively. Able and willing to share and receive information. Co-operates within the group and across groups with a strong emphasis on teamwork.
  • Strong computer skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel. Experience using Linux highly regarded.
  • Pays close attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness. Shows concern for all aspects of the job.
  • Ability to work transparently with minimal supervision.
Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.

Physical Demands:

This is a largely sedentary role; therefore, must be able to sit for an extended amount of time.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. As a full-time position, the QC Technician is eligible to participate in the regional benefits offered to Katalyst employees.

Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Travel:

Travel is not required of the QC Technician.

Required Education and Experience
  • High-school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8+ years' experience in the E&P industry.
  • Sub-Surface Data Management and/or Seismic processing and/or Well log knowledge is highly regarded.
