GIS/CAD Technician (Hybrid - Utility Industry)

Location: 3 days onsite at the nearest Michigan office (Southwest, South Central, or Southeast MI)

Type: 1-Year Contract

Pay: $22-$25/hr (depending on experience)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week (flexible schedule)


About the Role:

We is seeking a GIS/CAD Technician to join the Land Base Support Department. This team is responsible for maintaining and updating the company's land base data systems, supporting both electric and gas operations. In this role, you will input engineering data into an Enterprise GIS System and CAD platform, interpret field information, and maintain accurate and reliable geographic data.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret design and construction drawings to update and maintain GIS and CAD systems
  • Use MicroStation CAD software to align and initiate work orders for gas and electric infrastructure projects
  • Input engineering work orders and as-built data into an ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise Database
  • Perform data maintenance, cleanup, and quality improvement activities in GIS and CAD systems
  • Support integration efforts across departments using Enterprise CAD and GIS systems
  • Work independently to manage workload and meet project deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Support ongoing system upgrades and process improvements

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS software and MicroStation CAD
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret construction drawings and legal descriptions
  • Strong attention to detail, logical thinking, and self-motivation
  • Solid skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in GIS Mapping or CAD (required)

Work Environment:

  • Hybrid work model
  • Up to 10% travel may be required depending on business needs
