JOB SUMMARY The GIS Analyst plays a crucial role in providing technical support for a multi-user GIS network system. This role involves identifying, researching, designing, developing, deploying, and troubleshooting moderately complex issues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Install and configure GIS software, telecommunications, and related peripherals.
- Research, compile, and migrate data into GIS databases using software and automation tools.
- Develop tools and rules to resolve common data issues, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Analyze GIS data based on business requirements, producing high-quality maps and reports for projects.
- Enhance GIS software with custom tools and automated processes for consistent results.
- Support public safety applications and maintain the spatial data infrastructure.
- Conduct training for users on geospatial data principles and practices.
- Evaluate new software and provide recommendations for improving the GIS environment.
- Assist with GIS system administration.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A minimum of an Associate's degree in Geographic Information Systems or a related field and three years of GIS experience, or a High School diploma with four years of GIS experience is required.
CERTIFICATIONS: - A valid Florida driver's license is necessary, and completion of Law Enforcement Vehicle Operations Training may be required.
- FCIC/NCIC certification must be obtained within six months of employment.
- CJIS certification is also required within six months of employment.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Fluency in verbal and written English is essential for communication. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in high-quality map design, GIS technologies, and data analysis. Advanced skills are needed in ESRI products, geodatabase design, data management, and programming languages such as ArcPy and Python for custom tool development and data manipulation.
