General Summary Radiology Technologist:

The Radiology Technologist is responsible to review the Physician Order and reason for exam, position, and image of patients. The Radiology Technologist works closely with the Radiology leadership and the Radiologist to produce the highest quality diagnostic images possible in accordance with the department protocols. Operates diagnostic imaging equipment to obtain routine radiographs of designated body portions for interpretation by physicians. Assists radiologist in the administration of contrast media required in specific diagnostic procedures. Performs a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, with integrity and initiative.


SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program and registered as a Radiographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

  • Maintain Continuing Education credits (24 CEU in two year period) and other requirements to maintain ARRT certification.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • One year as a Radiologic Technologist preferred

  • Must have good working knowledge of anatomy and understanding of the principles of physics, electricity, variations of anatomical positions - supine, prone, etc.

  • Must know methods of exposure to obtain clearly defined films and to set up and operate equipment, with an emphasis on reduction in patient radiation dose (ALARA - As Low As Reasonably Achievable).

  • Must be very conscientious and detail oriented person with excellent communication skills and demonstrate excellent customer service skills to deal effectively with patients, and various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers, and community groups

General Summary CT Technologist:

The CT Technologist is responsible for reviewing the Physician Order and reason for exam, preparing the patient, positioning, and performing CT imaging of patients. The CT Technologist works closely with CT leadership and the Radiologist to produce the most diagnostic images possible in accordance with the department protocols. Operates diagnostic imaging equipment to obtain images of the designated body portions for interpretation by physicians, with attention to As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) techniques. Administers contrast media required per specific diagnostic protocols. The CT Technologist may also assist the physician/Advanced Practice Professionals (APP; AKA PA & NP) with the performance of CT-guided invasive procedures. Performs a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, with integrity and initiative.


SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program and registered as a Radiographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

  • Advanced certification in CT; OR CT registry-eligible, with completion of advanced certification in CT within one year of date of hire.

  • Maintain Continuing Education credits (24 CEU in two year period) and other requirements to maintain ARRT certification.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Two years as a Radiologic Technologist preferred


General Summary MRI Technologist:

The MRI Technologist is responsible for reviewing the Physician Order and reason for exam, preparing the patient, positioning, and performing MRI imaging of patients. The MRI Technologist demonstrates an advanced functional knowledge of MRI/MRA and related clinical indicators for exams to be performed. The MRI Technologists may adjust scanning protocols based on the anatomy/physiology presented during the scan. The MRI Technologist works closely with MRI leadership and the Radiologist to produce the most diagnostic images possible in accordance with the department protocols. Administers contrast media required per specific diagnostic protocols. The MRI Technologist may also assist the physician/APP with the performance of MRI-guided invasive procedures. Performs a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, with integrity and initiative and be able to work with minimum supervision.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of an accredited MRI Technologist program

  • Advanced certification in MRI by ARRT or ARMRIT; OR MRI Registry-eligible with certification within one year of hire

  • Maintain Continuing Education credits (24 CEU in two period) and other requirements to maintain ARRT certification.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • One year MRI experience preferred

  • Must have good working knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy

  • Must be proficient in venipuncture

  • Must know methods to set up and operate MRI equipment

  • Must be very conscientious and detail oriented person with excellent communication skills and demonstrate excellent customer service skills to deal effectively with patients, and various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers, and community group.
