A significant portion of their customer base comes from the aerospace sector, including manufacturers of aero engines and gearboxes, airframe structures, avionics, flight control systems, helicopter rotor systems, and landing gear.
Description
The General Manager's daily responsibilities will include the following tasks:
Oversee and manage daily manufacturing operations for a team of 450 employees, ensuring smooth, efficient, and productive performance across three shifts.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 12 direct reports (managers) to achieve operational goals and drive continuous improvement.
Engage in P&L ownership, monitoring financial performance, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Act as a key customer-facing leader, maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Collaborate closely with the VP of Manufacturing to ensure alignment on operational strategies and performance goals.
Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Operational Excellence principles (Green Belt or higher) to optimize processes, reduce waste, and improve quality.
Effectively communicate and engage with unionized workers, ensuring positive relations and conflict resolution when needed.

Profile
The successful General Manager will have:
Experience: Minimum of 15 years in manufacturing or operations leadership, with significant experience in aerospace or a related industry.
Education: Engineering degree (Bachelor's or higher) plus an advanced degree in business or an MBA.
Leadership: Proven track record in leading large teams, including direct reports and cross-functional teams.
Industry Experience: Aerospace background is essential, including experience with manufacturing processes, standards, and customer requirements.
P&L Ownership: Demonstrated experience managing P&L, cost controls, and budget forecasting.
Customer-Facing Experience: Ability to interface with clients, understanding their needs and delivering on commitments.
Union Experience: Understanding of union operations, or experience in managing union relations, with excellent communication skills.
Lean/Op Ex Certification: At least a Green Belt certification in Lean/Operational Excellence.
Soft Skills: Ability to handle direct challenges and operate effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
