THE ROLE:

We're bringing Northern Monk to Bradford-and we're looking for a General Manager to lead the way. This is a unique opportunity to launch and run a brand-new Northern Monk bar within the exciting new Darley Street Market development. You'll be building a team and a culture that reflects our values from day one, creating a destination for quality beer, community, and great service.

As General Manager, you'll take full ownership of the Northern Monk bar within a dynamic, multi-vendor setting. From team development and day-to-day leadership to stock management, reporting, and delivering on commercial targets, you'll ensure the smooth running of the operation and an outstanding guest experience. You'll also act as a key link between our brand and the wider market community, making sure we're proudly representing Northern Monk in Bradford.

You'll be a confident, people-focused leader who sets the tone for exceptional service, fosters a positive and spirited team culture, and isn't afraid to roll up your sleeves when it gets busy. With the support of the wider hospitality and HQ team, you'll play a pivotal role in putting Northern Monk at the heart of Darley Street Market-and at the heart of the Bradford community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Leadership and Team Management:
  • Lead, manage, and motivate a team of employees, providing support, training, and development wherever possible.
  • Work closely with the People/HR team on staff training, quarterly reviews, recruitment, and other employee matters to ensure your team is engaged and has opportunities for continuous development.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, ensuring the team is engaged.
  • Ensure a safe premises and work environment for customers and the team.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Ensure that the venue operates smoothly and efficiently on a day-to-day basis.
    • Maintain high standards of service, cleanliness, and venue maintenance.
    • Oversee stock control and allocation, including stock reports and GP targets.
    • Manage cash procedures, financial documents, and venue administration.
    • Ensure adherence to Health & Safety regulations and Licensing Objectives and policies.
    • Responsibility for all aspects of site security.
    • Assist with all other aspects of the business when required.
  • Financial Management:
    • Responsible for developing, tracking, and achieving the venue's P&L.
    • Work with the Finance team to ensure invoicing & financial information is recorded promptly and accurately, and responsible for cash procedures and required financial documents to ensure a timely & accurate P&L result.
    • Set performance measures to track performance with support from others in the business.
    • Ensure the venue delivers the best possible customer experiences.
    • Continuously develop customer experience and standards of service.
    • Monitor customer feedback and satisfaction, ensuring responses are prompt and professional.
    • Proactively drive brand awareness and customer footfall through unique events & beer experiences, working alongside the Bar Operations Manager or relevant teams.
  • Business Development:
    • Develop relationships with customers and local businesses, in line with company standards and practices.
    • Collaborate effectively with other vendors and the venue manager to ensure smooth operations and good relationships.
    • Use this opportunity to drive trade and create new customer experiences.
    • Be aware of local events that could help generate footfall.
    • Participate in vendor meetings.
    • Monitor and respond to issues like damage, fire, or complaints, reporting to Head Office when necessary.
