General Counsel Litigation Attorney

Our client is a well-established legal firm with over 30 years of experience in providing expert legal counsel. They specialize in serving clients within the education and nonprofit sectors and are seeking a skilled litigation attorney to join their team.

We are looking for an experienced litigation attorney to serve as General Counsel, responsible for handling legal matters related to education law, charter schools, and nonprofit organizations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in litigation, exceptional advocacy skills, and the ability to manage multiple legal cases efficiently.

Focus:

  • Provide legal representation and strategic counsel on matters related to education law, public finance, and nonprofit governance.
  • Handle litigation proceedings, including trial preparation, drafting motions, and advising clients.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft persuasive legal documents.
  • Work independently on various litigation and transactional matters.
  • Represent clients in administrative hearings, mediations, and court proceedings.
  • Collaborate with educational boards, school administrators, and government agencies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Utilize legal billing and case management software efficiently to maintain accurate records.

Skill Set:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in Your State or eligible for admission.
  • At least three years of experience in education law, charter school representation, or nonprofit legal matters.
  • Proven experience in litigation, including trial work and client advisory.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases independently while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Exceptional oral advocacy skills in both courtroom and administrative settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with school boards, educators, and policymakers.

Preferred Skill Set:

  • Previous experience representing charter schools or educational institutions.
  • Familiarity with federal and state regulations governing charter schools.
  • Background in employment law and labor relations within the education sector.
  • Knowledge of special education law, Title IX, and FERPA compliance.
