Gemologist $Top Location: Brentwood, TN Full Time Position We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Gemologist to join our company. As a Gemologist, you will be responsible for evaluating, appraising, and authenticating various gemstones and diamonds. In addition, you will provide expert advice and guidance to clients regarding gemstone selection, quality, and value. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of gemology, exceptional gemstone identification skills, and a strong passion for gemstones. Responsibilities:
• Perform accurate and thorough gemstone evaluations, including identification, grading, and certification.
• Utilize gemological tools and equipment to assess the quality, authenticity, and value of gemstones.
• Conduct detailed research and stay updated on industry trends, market values, and gemological advancements.
• Provide expert advice and guidance to clients on gemstone selection, investment potential, and jewelry design.
• Collaborate with jewelry designers, suppliers, and manufacturers to ensure gemstone quality standards are met.
• Write comprehensive reports detailing gemstone characteristics, grading, and valuation.
• Stay up-to-date with gemstone treatments and enhancements, and accurately identify and disclose any treatments present.
• Maintain an organized inventory of gemstones, ensuring accurate documentation and record-keeping.
• Assist with gemstone purchasing and sourcing activities, ensuring ethical and sustainable practices.
• Collaborate with the sales team to enhance product knowledge and provide training on gemstones and their value. Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Gemology or a related field is strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a Gemologist, preferably in a retail environment.
• Deep understanding of gemstone characteristics, grading systems, and market trends.
• Proficiency in using gemological tools, including microscopes, refractometers, spectrometers, and other testing equipment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an acute attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate gemstone information to clients.
• Proven ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
