Gastroenterology Physician

Coverage Needed:

• August 25 - February 28, 2026
• Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM
• Inpatient coverage majority of the time
• Call Schedule: 1:3, every third week including weekends, from Friday to Friday
• Locum required at three locations, all in close proximity
• Client prefers candidates available for longer blocks of 5-7 days

Clinical Details:

• Inpatient and outpatient GI care; must be comfortable with both
• Average inpatient volume: 12-15 patients per day
• Average outpatient volume: 8-10 patients in a half day, 15 in a full day
• New patients: 1-hour visits; established patients: 30-minute visits
• GI Lab: 12-15 cases per day, 3-5 days spent in the lab
• Endoscopy Suite: 10-12 cases per day, 3-5 days spent here
• Equipment: Olympus & Provation
• EMR: Meditech Expanse
• Support Staff: 2 physicians, 2 PAs, 1 NP, 5 LPN/MAs, 1 registrar, 1 RN coordinator
• Hospitalist service admits patients; GI acts as a consultant
• MAC sedation with propofol; anesthesiologist and CRNA on site
• No ERCP/EUS required, but preferred

Requirements:

• Board Certified or truly Board Eligible (within 2 years of residency)
• PA license required at time of presentation
• 100% comfortable with scoping (endoscopy/colonoscopy)
• Credentialing: Normal processing 60-90 days; temp/emergency privileges available
• Completion of online modules during credentialing process
