Chief of Gastroenterology " Academic Leadership Opportunity
Position Overview:
An established and expanding healthcare system is seeking an exceptional Chief of Gastroenterology to lead and develop a newly created academic division. This is a unique opportunity for a visionary physician to shape the future of GI care, education, and research in collaboration with a new medical school and a prominent university partner.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and Build: Establish and lead an academic gastroenterology division focused on clinical excellence, medical education, and research.
Team Development: Recruit, mentor, and guide a multidisciplinary team of faculty, fellows, and support staff.
Clinical Leadership: Actively participate in patient care through rounding, consultations, and management of complex GI cases across inpatient and outpatient settings.
Program Expansion: Enhance advanced GI services, including endoscopy and procedural care.
Strategic Growth: Collaborate with health system leadership to drive strategic development of the GI service line.
Academic Engagement: Shape the clinical and academic programs in partnership with a new medical school and a leading university.
Cultural Stewardship: Set clinical standards and cultivate a high-performance, patient-centered team culture.
Facility Integration: Provide care within a full-service health system that includes trauma services and comprehensive GI capabilities.
Eligibility & Requirements:
Open exclusively to board-certified physicians (MD or DO) in Gastroenterology.
Must hold or be eligible for appropriate state medical licensure.
Board certification in Gastroenterology is mandatory; fellowship completion is not required.
Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, DEA, and CSR/CDS at the start of employment.
Preferred: Prior experience in leadership roles (e.g., Chief, Medical Director) or program development.
Compensation & Benefits:
Competitive Base Salary: $521,850"$823,584, based on experience and qualifications.
