Shaw is searching for the next championship Head Coach, Women's Softball. Reporting to the Athletics Director or designee, the Head Coach - Women's Softball is responsible for the overall direction and management of the softball program. This includes day-to-day administrative and program management leadership, recruitment, retention, and skills training, as it relates to the development of a competitive NCAA Division II Softball program capable of winning CIAA championships and capable of competing for a national championship. The Head Coach assumes responsibility for ensuring the team's compliance with NCAA and CIAA rules and regulations and with Shaw University's policies & procedures, and budgetary constraints. The Head Coach will actively participate in institutional and athletic fundraising endeavors and committee service as assigned. The position is accountable for ensuring effective personal management of subordinate personnel, collaboration with all campus constituents, and maintain a student focus environment that will provide a positive student-athlete experience.
Essential Job Functions: - Administration of all phases of the women's softball program, including scheduling non-conference games.
- Ensures the effective instruction of student-athletes in the sport of women's softball. Serves as an effective coach in the development of successful strategies for softball competition and the reinforcement of student-athletes' character development, personal motivation, and leadership.
- Ensures effective recruitment of student-athletes for the softball program.
- Adheres to all institutional, applicable conference and all other rules, regulations, and policies.
- Coordinates Shaw University's annual Softball Challenge.
- Assists in fundraising with major fundraisers in the Athletic Department, in consultation with the Office of Institutional Advancement and the Athletic Director.
- Implements effective strategies to retain students athletically and academically. Monitors and supports the academic success of the student-athletes.
- Acts as a liaison to help coordinate community-service involvement.
- Effectively prepares and manages the team's budget and follow the policies set forth by the Office of Finance and Administration.

Supervisory Responsibilities Assistant Softball Coach (Seasonal)
Education and/or Experience - Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning or a related discipline.
- At least two years of softball coaching experience
- NCAA Rules Compliance (Division II).
- NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse Procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Softball Rules & Regulations
- Computer skill proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel software
Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations CPR / First Aid
