Job Summary:

Work with internal team members to analyze, define, and design solutions to enhancement requests, new functionality, and new products related to the University's website. Use knowledge of programming languages to code user-side applications, including visual elements like menu bars, clickable buttons and the overall layout of websites and responsive, accessible and user-friendly web applications. Their duties include communicating with clients to identify their needs, optimizing websites for different formats like desktops and mobile phones and running tests to ensure code strings perform the correct functions. Role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Essential Functions:

45% Leads the creative efforts in concepting, designing and producing the flow, graphic and aesthetic portions of all web projects for the University's website and mobile applications.

15% Designs, writes and edits template pages and complex web pages which incorporate video, audio and forms.

10% Translate wireframes and sketches into working prototypes to refine interface behaviors.

10% Build and maintain front-end libraries and frameworks.

10% Collaborate with web developers to integrate front-end and back-end code, ensuring design integrity.

10% Debug and troubleshoot layout and scripting issues across a variety of browsers including Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Safari. Other duties as assigned

Experience:

Required:

A minimum of 2 years demonstrated strong front-end development skills especially concerning accessibility, extensibility and client-side computing. Expert-level JavaScript programming and working knowledge of at least one popular JavaScript framework. Expert knowledge of HTML 5, CSS, SEO and web accessibility standards. Experience using web analytics tool (Google Analytics 4 or other). Experience with content management systems (CMS). Self-motivated, ability to work independently and efficiently. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Experience developing and maintaining WordPress functionality, including but not limited to, blocks, themes and plugins.

Preferred:

Experience in higher education environment is preferred. Experience using Bootstrap frameworks and other responsive design methodologies. Knowledge in user experience and user interface design (UX and UI). Experience working with Google Tag Manager. Experience using the following technologies: JQuery, AJAX, JSON, RESTful APIs and LESS/SASS. Templating languages such as Velocity or FreeMarker and experiencing using Adobe CC (Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver).

Leadership:

No authority or responsibility for the supervision of others.

Physical Requirements:

Job is physically comfortable; individual is normally seated and has discretion about walking, standing, etc. May occasionally lift very lightweight objects.

Working Conditions:

Standard working environment with possible minor inconveniences due to occasional noise, crowded working conditions and/or minor heating/cooling or ventilation problems. Near continuous use (>70% of the time) of a video display terminal.

Salary:

$55,000
