As a Front End Engineer II on the Meridian team, you'll help shape how Amazon's experiences scale across phones, tablets, automotive displays, and emerging platforms. You'll maintain and evolve our mobile component libraries while ensuring our interfaces adapt seamlessly to different hardware capabilities and contexts. This role offers the opportunity to directly impact how Amazon teams build applications that work beautifully across a diverse range of devices and screen sizes.

Key job responsibilities
- Own and maintain Meridian's Android and iOS component libraries, with a primary focus (approximately 60%) on Android development
- Build and improve developer tools and documentation to enhance the mobile developer experience across platforms
- Create scalable, adaptive components that work across different device form factors and contexts
- Collaborate with designers, engineers, and product teams to ensure consistent implementation of design patterns across platforms
- Provide technical guidance and support to teams using Meridian's libraries through various channels (Slack, office hours, etc.)
- Drive improvements in accessibility, performance, and quality across mobile platforms
- Design and implement responsive solutions that adapt to different screen sizes and device capabilities
- Participate in code reviews and help maintain high code quality standards
- Monitor and improve operational health of mobile libraries and tooling
- Potential for partial embedding with customer teams to gain deeper insights into their needs and challenges

Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong experience in Android development with Jetpack Compose (Kotlin)
- Experience with iOS development using SwiftUI (Swift)
- Experience building and maintaining reusable component libraries or SDKs
- Understanding of mobile platform constraints and capabilities across different devices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with or contributing to a design system
- Experience building adaptive, responsive interfaces across different screen sizes
- Experience with accessibility implementation on mobile platforms
- Understanding of platform-specific design patterns and interaction models
- Track record of collaborating with designers and product managers
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Experience mentoring other engineers
- Passion for creating scalable, consistent experiences across platforms

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
