Part-Time Front Desk Receptionist

Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Job Summary:
The Part-Time Front Desk Receptionist serves as the welcoming face and primary point of contact for our vibrant and loving Episcopal Church community. This position plays a crucial role in creating a warm, organized, and efficient environment for parishioners, visitors, and staff. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, a compassionate demeanor, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality. A strong personal faith and a desire to integrate faith into their work are essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcoming and Greeting: Warmly greet all individuals entering the church office, providing a friendly and helpful first impression. Direct visitors to the appropriate person or department. Ensure the front office space is consistently clean, organized, and inviting for all who enter.
- Phone Management: Answer incoming phone calls promptly and professionally, directing calls to the appropriate staff members or taking accurate and detailed messages.
- Message Handling: Receive and relay messages accurately and efficiently to the intended recipients, ensuring timely communication.
- Mail and Deliveries: Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages. Prepare outgoing mail for postal service.
- Office Organization: Maintain an organized and tidy front office area, including managing filing systems, ensuring a clean and welcoming environment.
- Snack and Supply Maintenance: Restock communal snacks and beverages in the office area as needed. Monitor and replenish general office supplies.
- Light Data Entry: Perform light data entry tasks as required, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Confidentiality: Maintain the utmost confidentiality regarding church matters, staff information, and personal information of parishioners.
- General Office Support: Provide general administrative support to the staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in a receptionist or administrative support role preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- A genuine appreciation for the mission and values of the church community and a personal faith that is an integral part of their life.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
