The Front Desk- Food Bank Associate provides supervision to the lobby area of Neighborhood House and ensures a welcoming and pleasant experience for all members and visitors as they enter or call our facility. They help to ensure that our Food Bank is providing the best experience possible for individuals who are using the service.

Agency Duties and Responsibilities

  2. Supports and ensures all applicable procedures are followed that attain and maintain compliance with regulatory agencies.
  3. Provides leadership and positive interaction with others as evidenced by professional maturity, respect for others, a team-centered approach, maintenance of confidential information, and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace.
  4. Exhibits sound stewardship by effectively managing financial resources and physical resources to achieve the objectives of Neighborhood House.
  5. Exhibits regular and punctual attendance.
Description of Essential Functions

  1. Provides for a healthy and safe environment, and maintains building security by enforcing agency rules and regulations and ensuring work area is clean and organized during and after use.
  2. Upholds member confidentiality as applicable.
  3. Provides positive supervision of the lobby in accordance with the supervisor's guidelines. Ensures front desk is attended to/lobby supervised at all times.
  4. Provides positive interactions in greeting, assisting, and providing directions to guests, participants, and volunteers at the facility. Practice good problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills with all visitors when necessary.
  5. Operates the main switchboard, directing any phone calls to the appropriate parties.
  6. Attend meetings and trainings as assigned.
Food Bank Responsibilities
  • Assist with food bank distribution, stocking, and shopping model
    • Includes ensuring FB has all necessary supplies for shopping model
    • Stocking of Monday deliveries and Tuesday's Produce
    • Clean and organize food bank after-hours
    • Reorganize the pantry to best support the shopping model and the members
    • Checking guests in on a tablet or computer
  • Working with the coordinator to make sure the shopping experience is handled in a dignified way for all food bank users.
  • Works with other staff and volunteers to ensure that no food is distributed unless appropriate paperwork has been completed and food can be properly accounted for.
  • At times may be required to drive NH vehicles to do pickups and deliveries to keep the Dare to Care food bank stocked and running effectively. This could be driving to Dare to Care, Target donation runs, delivering food boxes, etc.
  • Coordinate/assist with surveys in the FB
  • Orient Food Bank volunteers upon arrival and ensure they are following through on duties
  • Any other duties as assigned for front desk/food bank operations
