The Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene seeks a Front Desk/Clinic Assistant to support the dental clinic and front desk operations during its afternoon and evening hours in the Worcester clinic, and work with patients, faculty, staff and students on scheduling needs for clinical sessions and address front desk/patient needs, and to oversee clinical operations. This is a part-time position/20 hours a week.
• Open/close clinic on days of patient care sessions and labs
• Assist students with proper equipment use and inform Clinic Manager of any issues
• Assist with student instrument kit distribution
• Assist with annual CDCA Exam/Onsite Licensure Exam
• Communicate with MCPHS facilities and enter work orders as necessary
• Manage sterilization area and processing of student instruments/cassettes
• Work with Clinic Manager to maintain logs and other DPH documents
• Prepare hazardous waste for transport
• Oversee students in instrument processing and clinic related duties
• Assist Clinic Manager with order lists, putting away orders, and rotating stock
• Perform biological monitoring of sterilizers and maintain related logs
• Communicate with Dean and Clinic Manager to report any issues with the clinic operations including; equipment failure, inventory control, and faculty/student issues
• Contributes to sustaining and enhancing an inclusive working and learning environment
• Greets and welcomes patients; manages check in/out process
• Schedules and confirms appointments with clinic patients and community partners
• Collects payments, manages documents, and prints receipts
• Manages patient exit surveys
• Monitors and maintains unscheduled appointments and future recare appointments
• Communicates with MCPHS security on a parking list for patients
• Informs Front Desk Administrator about any patient record transfer requests and archival of records
• Follow up calls with patients regarding post-treatment/well-being
• Other job duties as assigned
Required:
• High school diploma
• Previous experience as a licensed dental assistant with a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in a dental clinical setting
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with patients, students, and dental team members.
• Adequate computer skills with ability to effectively communicate via email and learn use of software platforms for purposes of scheduling appointments and managing patient needs
• Strong organization skills
• Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
• Current OSAP training and CPR certification and HIPAA certification upon hire
• Strong organization skills and ability to accurately maintain clinical documents in practice setting

Preferred:
• Formally trained with dental office experience
• Knowledge of required documentation for dental public health settings very desirable.
• Knowledge of dental equipment and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs
• Must be able ambulatory and spend 6-7 hours a day walking around clinical setting
• Must be able to don PPE and perform clinical duties for 6-7 hours each day
