French and Spanish Teacher Responsibilities:
- Teach a total of four language sections, with a combination of French and Spanish, to students in grades 6-12.
- Providing conversational classes where pronunciation and important words and phrases are taught.
- Conducting research on teaching methods, materials, and language games that can be used in class.
- Scheduling and preparing students for oral and written examinations.
- Monitoring student's progress by writing up reports and grading assessments.
- Organizing feedback sessions with students and their parents if applicable.
- Providing suggestions for further learning and scheduling intervention sessions with struggling students.
- Teaching students about Spanish and French culture, which may include festivals, traditional food, and dress, and social conventions.
- Organizing fun events where students can showcase their Spanish and French language skills.
- Serve as an advisor for middle and upper school students.
French and Spanish Teacher Requirements:
- An undergraduate degree in Spanish, French or a related field.
- Master's degree preferred.
- 2-3 years of previous teaching experience.
- No teaching license or credential is required.
- Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of ACTFL standards preferred.
- Well-organized and able to handle multiple responsibilities.
- Detail-oriented and resilient.
Additional Desired Qualities:
- Willingness to work with both middle and high school students.
- Experience with IB education preferred.
- Passion for foreign language education.
- Desire to be involved in school-wide initiatives and extracurricular activities.
