Annual Report - Writer (Bilingual and Biliterate)

Location Requirement:

Houston, Texas (Local candidates preferred)

Project Overview:

We seek an experienced and bilingual (English/Spanish) writer based in Houston to develop a comprehensive Annual Report of approximately 50 pages, with 500 words per page . The report will serve as a key communications tool, summarizing the company's performance, key milestones, and future outlook. The writer will collaborate closely with the Director and senior graphic designer to access and interpret data, and transform it into clear, compelling narratives suitable for key internal stakeholders, the residential community, and the public/media at large.

Target Audience:

The client's Annual Report will reflect its broad reach and impact. Primary readers include current clients and residents who live in the client's properties or participate in affordable and mixed-income housing. The report should clearly communicate the services provided, improvements made, and the agency's commitment to resident well-being.

It will also address community stakeholders and partners, including local organizations, nonprofit collaborators, and service providers that work alongside the client to deliver housing, education, and support services.

Additionally, the report will serve the Board of Commissioners, providing a high-level overview of strategic progress, decisions, and governance matters. It should also engage with its staff and internal teams by highlighting their contributions and reinforcing its mission and values. Finally, the report should be accessible to the general public and media, helping to increase awareness of the client's impact and build trust within the broader Houston community.

Objectives:

Create a professionally written Annual Report that effectively communicates the company's:

• Year-in-review performance
• Financial and operational highlights (TBC)
• Key initiatives and milestones
• Strategic goals and outlook for the upcoming year

Ensure the report is engaging, accurate, and accessible in English and Spanish.

Deliverables:

1. Initial Content Outline & Structure

• High-level draft of the report sections and narrative flow

1. Full English Draft (50 pages, 500 words per page)

• Includes all research, data interpretation, and stakeholder input

1. Final English Version (Post-Client Feedback)

• Includes copyediting and fact-checking

1. Spanish Translation of Full Report

• Includes accurate, culturally relevant translation of the final English version

1. Final Deliverables Package

• English and Spanish versions (editable and print-ready formats)

Scope of Services:

• Review company reports, data, and strategy materials
• Client Background, Client Drafts, etc.
• The client has provided our team with early drafts of the language. The writer will be responsible for rewording the messaging around specific themes and audiences and will have creative liberty to rewrite some of the highlights, summaries, and takeaways.
• Draft content in a clear, professional tone appropriate for corporate audiences
• Collaborate with graphic designers, Director and stakeholders during the layout process
• Provide up to three rounds of revisions per language version
• Translate or coordinate the accurate translation of the report into Spanish

Requirements:

• Proven experience writing corporate/annual reports or equivalent professional materials
• Strong editorial and storytelling skills with a focus on clarity and accuracy
• Ability to synthesize complex data into digestible narratives
• Native-level fluency in both English and Spanish (bilingual/biliterate)
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work under deadline pressure and independently

Timeline:

Estimated project duration: May 20th to June 12th

Milestones and due dates will be finalized upon contract award.

Budget & Payment Terms:

This will be determined based on experience and the final project scope. Payment will be issued as a project-based agreement with phases aligned with deliverable milestones.
