Job Details

Responsibilities:

1. Draft, review, and negotiate various franchise agreements and documents ensuring compliance with federal and state franchise laws.
2. Provide legal advice on a wide range of franchise-related matters including franchise disclosure documents, franchise compliance, and business law.
3. Counsel clients on transactional law matters, regulatory compliance, and contract negotiation.
4. Develop and implement strategies for managing legal risks associated with franchising.
5. Collaborate with other members of the legal team and external counsel as necessary.
6. Keep abreast of legislative changes that may affect the company and its affiliates.
7. Perform pre-litigation work to minimize risks and maximize legal rights.
8. Review advertising and marketing materials to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
9. Provide training to company and franchisee staff on franchise-related legal matters.

Qualifications:

1. Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
2. Admitted to practice in the State of Illinois (Illinois Bar).
3. 5+ years of experience as a Franchise Attorney or Corporate Attorney with a strong focus on franchising.
4. In-depth knowledge of franchise disclosure, franchise agreements, franchise compliance, business law, and transactional law.
5. Proven experience in client counseling, contract negotiation, and regulatory compliance.
6. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex legal issues in a clear and concise manner.
7. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
8. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically and make sound legal judgments.
9. High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
10. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with clients and team members.
11. Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
