Qunnect Inc, a venture-backed startup building quantum-secure networks in the Brooklyn Navy Yard (Brooklyn, NY) , is seeking an FPGA Engineer to join our R&D team. This role sits within the software group and focuses on building real-time digital logic systems that sit at the intersection of embedded networking and experimental physics.

You'll work closely with both software engineers and experimental physicists to design and implement FPGA-based solutions for signal processing, precision timing, and deterministic communication in cutting-edge quantum networking systems. This position is ideal for someone excited by R&D environments, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and pushing the limits of embedded digital systems.

This is a full-time, on-site role in a fast-paced and multidisciplinary R&D setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement FPGA logic for high-speed data acquisition, processing, and transport
  • Develop and optimize low-level Ethernet protocols (PHY and MAC layers) for real-time performance
  • Interface with optical and quantum hardware through custom digital and analog signaling
  • Collaborate with software and physics teams on system-level integration and experimentation
  • Support prototyping, bring-up, and iterative development in the lab

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in FPGA development using Verilog or VHDL
  • Familiarity with high-speed digital interfaces (Ethernet, SERDES, LVDS, etc.)
  • Comfortable working with lab tools for debugging and validation
  • Solid understanding of low-level networking protocols, particularly Ethernet
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with embedded Linux platforms or microcontrollers
  • Background in telecommunications, scientific instrumentation, or quantum/optical systems
  • Familiarity with real-time constraints and deterministic data processing
  • Experience with simulation and verification workflows

At Qunnect, we offer a stimulating and collaborative work environment, competitive compensation, and the opportunity to be at the forefront of networking innovation. Join our team and contribute to shaping the future of the industry.
