Position: FPGA Design Engineer
Location: Shalimar, FL if not local, willing to relocate
Clearance: an active Secret security clearance
Compensation range: $170-$200K, based on experience and qualifications We are looking for a skilled FPGA Design Engineer to join our dynamic team and develop innovative solutions for complex challenges. The primary responsibilities include architecting, implementing, and testing firmware solutions for FPGAs and their supporting circuitry. Additional skills in circuit and PCBA design, embedded processor/microcontroller or SoC designs, technical trade studies, and technology evaluation are highly valued. Experience in designing and implementing DSP functions is also desired. Key Responsibilities:
Architect, implement, and test firmware solutions targeting FPGAs.
Assist design teams with circuit and PCBA design and analysis.
Contribute to embedded processor/microcontroller or SoC designs.
Conduct technical trade studies and evaluate technology improvements.
Design and implement DSP functions. Required Experience:
Proficiency in implementing FPGA designs using VHDL in Xilinx Vivado.
Experience optimizing FPGA designs for resource utilization, power consumption, and performance.
Expertise in timing closure techniques and methodologies, including timing constraints.
Ability to write test benches for simulation of FPGA designs to ensure correct behavior, performance, and timing.
Familiarity with ModelSim.
Strong understanding of digital design principles, FPGA architectures, and high-speed communication protocols. Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline from an ABET-accredited institution with 12+ years of relevant experience, or 10+ years with an MS degree.
An active Secret Clearance.
Experience with embedded software/firmware design.
High proficiency in C/C , VHDL, and TCL.
Experience in FPGA system design and testing from architecture through implementation.
Familiarity with modern Xilinx FPGA families and design tools (7-series FPGAs, Ultrascale+, Vivado, Xilinx IP cores).
Experience with high-speed serial communication standards and interfaces (e.g., Aurora, 10Ge, PCIe, DDR4/3/2/1, JESD204B).
Experience with standard internal interfaces such as AXI4, AXI4-Stream, AXI4-Lite.
Motivated self-starter and problem solver with experience working in multi-disciplinary teams.
Hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience developing and implementing FPGA-optimized versions of DSP algorithms (e.g., modulation/demodulation, PLLs, filters, image processing).
Experience with SoC designs such as Zynq and Zynq Ultrascale+, including architecting and interfacing with peripherals, interrupts, and related bus architectures.
Experience with embedded operating systems.
Working knowledge of digital/analog/mixed signal electronics, components, and interface/communication standards.
Experience with FPGA PCBA hardware design.
