FP&A Assistant Manager Summary

The FP&A Assistant Manager is responsible for developing and preparing various analyses of the firm's financial results, assisting with the budget process, and reporting actuals versus budget. This role involves collaborating with senior analysts to compile and review data on revenue generation, financial profitability, expense analysis/allocations, and capital expenditures. Additionally, the role includes overseeing and leading department initiatives related to the annual budget process, monthly meetings, and various ad hoc projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Strategic Initiatives : Support key strategic initiatives through financial modeling and data mining analysis.
  • Data Presentation : Create compelling visual presentations of complex data to aid in decision-making.
  • Business Intelligence : Develop new methods to integrate information from multiple sources, enhancing access to critical business intelligence.
  • Profitability Analysis : Identify and analyze new ways to understand the firm's underlying profitability, including developing business models for practice areas.
  • Management Reports : Prepare standard management reports weekly, monthly, and annually, along with any ad-hoc analytical requests from management.
  • Budget Management : Assist in managing the annual budget and reforecast process, preparing related summary analyses and presentations, and collaborating with various branch offices/departments.
  • Expense Analysis : Conduct detailed monthly expense analyses comparing actuals to budgets for departments, offices, and projects, including explanations for variances.
  • Finance Liaison : Communicate with branch office/department heads to enhance the analysis of financial information.
  • Project Improvement : Oversee project improvement initiatives that require coordinating efforts between multiple departments.
  • System Support : Provide system support for extracting and loading data across aggregate storage systems.
Qualifications
  • Technical Skills : Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Oracle Hyperion Essbase. Familiarity with SQL and legal/professional services database structures. Experience with various information technology/accounting systems (experience with Elite 3E is a plus).
  • Analytical Skills : Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including experience in profitability, cost accounting, and financial modeling.
  • Project Management : Proven project management skills.
  • Communication Skills : Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal abilities, and business writing.
  • Organizational Skills : Proactive and results-driven with outstanding organizational skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills : Ability to interact with all levels of firm personnel and client contacts.
  • Teamwork : Ability to work both in a team environment and independently.
Education and Experience
  • Degree : Bachelor's degree (preferably in Finance or Accounting).
  • Experience : At least eight years of experience in a senior or managerial role. Experience in the legal industry or a professional services organization is beneficial.
Compensation
  • Base Salary: The base salary range for this position is $140,000.00 to $170, 000.00.
