Maintenance Manager - Foundry (Green Sand)

Summary: We're looking for a hands-on Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance team within a green sand foundry. This role is responsible for the reliability and uptime of all plant equipment, with a focus on proactive repairs, team development, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate has direct experience in foundry operations, strong leadership skills, and a solid understanding of preventative maintenance in a high-heat, heavy industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead and manage all maintenance operations in the foundry, including green sand molding lines, core machines, furnaces, and material handling systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures quickly to reduce downtime.
  • Supervise, schedule, and develop a team of maintenance technicians across all shifts.
  • Implement and oversee preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Maintain equipment related to sand systems, shakeouts, dust collection, hydraulics, pneumatics, and air systems.
  • Track maintenance KPIs and drive accountability on repairs, safety, and work order completion.
  • Coordinate outside contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or projects.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and safety teams to support plant goals.
  • Contribute to capital planning and equipment upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and health standards.

Requirements:


  • 7 years of industrial maintenance experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Foundry experience required; green sand environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Skilled in machinery diagnostics and root cause analysis.
  • Proficient with CMMS systems and Microsoft Excel for maintenance tracking.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor maintenance staff.
  • Strong communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
