General Description:

This position is responsible for conducting research and development activities in support of technical projects. The role involves detailed experimental work, data analysis, and interpretation of results. The individual will contribute to project strategy by applying scientific expertise and discretion in experiment design and execution. Responsibilities include preparing technical documents such as reports, protocols, and quantitative assessments. The role also involves exploring new techniques and technologies to enhance project outcomes and staying current with relevant scientific literature.


Principal Responsibilities:

  • Conduct testing and analysis of the physical and chemical properties of formulation samples, raw materials, and packaging components. Develop new testing methods or optimize existing ones.
  • Assess data quality and draw conclusions to support follow-up actions. Devise solutions to complex technical challenges, using sound judgment in selecting methodologies and evaluation criteria.
  • Execute work plans and communicate findings with team members. Prepare samples of commercial or experimental formulations and conduct processing and scale-up studies.
  • Maintain laboratory instruments and equipment in working order, including troubleshooting as needed. Ensure the laboratory environment remains clean and well-organized.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of reagents, raw materials, and supplies. Comply with all applicable safety and regulatory procedures.
  • May act as a technical lead on assigned formulation projects and assist in drafting technical documentation. Support development of technical and regulatory knowledge within the team.
  • Demonstrate proficiency and efficiency in formulation preparation and evaluation, equipment usage, and analysis of process variables.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry or a related scientific field.
  • Experience with the formulation and evaluation of chemical products, preferably within the agricultural or related industry.
  • Familiarity with formulation development principles, regulatory requirements for chemical components, and manufacturing considerations.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This laboratory-based position requires a range of physical activities, including but not limited to sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, and lifting up to 25 lbs regularly, with occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. Handling containers of liquid formulations may be necessary. Work may include time spent in environments with powders or dust, requiring use of a respirator and additional personal protective equipment (PPE).

The role may involve exposure to equipment and machinery, varying noise levels, temperature extremes, and chemicals. Proper use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols is essential.
