What You'll Do:
- Conduct forensic investigations of building systems, structures, and failures related to construction defects, weather events, material degradation, and more.
- Perform site inspections, collect field data, and evaluate damage causes.
- Analyze technical documents including drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Write detailed forensic reports and deliver clear expert findings.
- Support attorneys, insurance carriers, and clients in dispute resolution, occasionally serving as an expert witness.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across multiple offices and project types.
What We're Looking For:
- 4-12 years of forensic engineering experience, preferably with some exposure to forensic investigation, failure analysis, or building diagnostics.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's or PE license is a strong plus).
- Demonstrated understanding of building systems, construction practices, and codes.
- Strong writing skills - you'll need to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Interest in litigation support, expert witness work, or insurance-related investigations is preferred.
- Ability to travel locally with occasional national travel as projects demand.
Bonus Points For:
- P.E. license (or on track within 12 months).
- Previous forensic or consulting experience.
- Familiarity with NYC construction regulations and building codes.
