Footwear Design Intern Job Description: Ariat International has an opportunity for a Footwear Design Intern to learn about the footwear business including creating innovative and trend relevant products while continuing to evolve iconic styles that meet the needs of the Ariat consumers. The Footwear Design Intern will come away with a deeper understanding of the footwear industry, what it takes to be a footwear designer, and an excitement and passion for the industry all while having a great time being a part of the Ariat Footwear Design Team.
What You'll Gain - Key insights into color/trend forecasting
- Design drawing experience both by hand and computer
- Presentation prep experience that may include trend and competitor analysis, graphic design work, cad drawings in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop based on the design teams sketches.
- Opportunity to learn how to take hand drawings to presentation ready renderings efficiently.
- Experience helping update the Ariat Footwear Branding Guidelines. These guidelines help ensure that product is consistent in how branding looks across categories.
- Basic structure and footwear design/manufacturing knowledge.
- Foundational knowledge about all the parts of shoe construction while also becoming familiar with outsole engineering through technical blueprints and 3D models.
- Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Procreate, 3D Vizcom, hands on experience while using these tools to create renderings and technical drawings or "tech packs".
- Opportunities to assist with other key learnings as assigned
About You - Currently pursuing a degree in Design or a related field or a recent graduate
- Curious about how footwear comes together and be an active participant in our process.
- Awareness of market trends
- Experience with design research, concept creation, sketching, and/or rendering a plus
- Self-motivated and proactive
- Excellent communication skills
- Intermediate Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator skills preferred
- Exposure to CAD software is a plus

The hourly rate for this position is $20.00 per hour.
The salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data for geographic locations.
