Food Services Manager

The Food Services Manager will support the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to support disaster response operations and manage temporary facility support services. Their primary role is to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the food service operations while maintaining high standards of quality, customer satisfaction, and food safety. The Food Services Manager handles various responsibilities, including menu planning, ordering supplies, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

  • Estimated Starting Salary Range for Food Services Manager: Pay commensurate with experience.

Food Services Manager Responsibilities Include:
  • Manages the operation of all food services during preparation, onsite, and demobilization
  • Ensures compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintains high-quality standards in food preparation and service
  • Plans, organizes, and oversees daily food service operations including menu planning, food preparation, and service
  • Manages and supervises food service staff, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations
  • Ensures compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, maintaining proper hygiene practices, and implementing necessary protocols
  • Monitors inventory levels, order supplies, and manage budgets to ensure efficient operation and cost control
  • Collaborates with vendors and suppliers to maintain quality and timely delivery of food products
  • Manages occupant's inquiries, feedback, and complaints, resolving issues promptly and ensuring satisfied customers
  • Implements and enforces policies and procedures related to food safety, workplace safety, and staff conduct
  • Works flexible hours to support disaster response onsite activities
  • Prepares briefs and presentations as required utilizing Microsoft Office family of products (i.e. Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Access)
  • Supports meetings and teleconferences as required with management
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Food Services Manager Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • A bachelor's degree specialized in hospitality or other related field
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of food service management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in a government environment preferably with FEMA or HHS
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are not required but are preferred
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via oral and written means
  • Ability to present a positive demeanor to individuals, their families, staff, supportive services personnel, and the general public
  • Ability to remain calm in the midst of difficult circumstances and emergencies
  • Knowledge of cash and receipts management, ability to receive and manage currency, checks, credit card data, and other forms of payment
  • Ability to effectively manage significant documentation
  • Ability to explain tasks, plans, schedules, strategies, and issues to stakeholders
  • Proficient in utilizing Outlook, Word and Excel; PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, Visio
  • The ability to successfully pass a drug screen and a federal background check is mandatory
  • Past applicable job experience may include, but is not limited to: Catering Manager, Food and Service Manager, or Kitchen Manager
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
