POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION: DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS The Food Service Worker plays a crucial role in supporting hurricane response efforts in Florida by providing essential food services at designated locations. The Food Service Worker will be responsible for preparing, serving, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for the distribution of meals to affected individuals and response personnel.
Duties/Responsibilities: - Prepare and serve food according to standardized recipes and guidelines, ensuring meals are nutritious and meet dietary needs.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food preparation and serving areas, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of food service stations, including tables, serving lines, and dining areas.
- Package and distribute meals to individuals and families, ensuring efficient and organized service.
- Operate kitchen equipment, such as ovens, stoves, and food processors, safely and efficiently.
- Receive, inspect, and store food supplies, ensuring proper handling and storage to prevent spoilage and contamination.
- Monitor food temperatures to ensure safety and quality.
- Assist with inventory management and record-keeping, tracking food supplies and meals served.
- Provide excellent customer service to recipients, addressing inquiries and concerns with empathy and professionalism.
- Collaborate with other food service staff, volunteers, and emergency responders to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Education, Certifications, Licenses, and Experience: - Must possess a ServSafe certification.
- Must possess prior food service experience.
- Be prepared to deploy to disaster-affected areas, often with short notice.
Work Environment: Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
Physical Requirements: Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach. Employees may be also required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies. Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
