Food Service Substitute
Functional Capacity Assessment RequiredQualifications: High School Diploma, experience with food preparation, and basic understanding and use of computers
Reports to: Food Service Director/Food Service Supervisor/Head Cook
Work Calendar: On-call during the school year, as needed to fill day-to-day and long term leave positions
Position Goal: To provide healthy, nutritious, attractive meals to students within a clean environment which meets all State of Illinois health codes
Rate of Pay: This is an on-call position; $15.00 per hour, position is not eligible for benefits.
The Food Service Substitute shall be responsible for the following duties and perform other duties that may be assigned by the Food Service Director, Food Service Supervisor, Head Cook/Kitchen Supervisor, or Administration:
Superintendent/Board: - Observe and adhere to all Board of Education policies and regulations, and all administrative rules and procedures
Building: - Assist in preparing all food for the daily meal program
- Pack lunch bags for the elementary schools and distribute using portable ovens
- Order and store ice cream, milk, napkins, straws etc.
- Daily enter all prepayments on the computer and makes additional daily entries as necessary
- Prepare cash box, open computer, and shut down/lock-up computer on a daily basis
- Cashier during all meal periods on a daily basis
- Refill condiments and clean condiment area between meal periods
- Replenish silverware and trays for each lunch period
- Assist with cleaning of the service area and the kitchen
- Oversee use and cleaning of ovens and burners
- Assist with the unpacking and storing of all supplies
Individual: - Wear appropriate clothing, plastic gloves, hair cover etc.
- Exhibit confidentiality in relation to students, parents and staff
- Remain current in the use of First Aid, CPR, Heimlich maneuver, EPI Pen and the AED (if required by Administration)
- Be knowledgeable of and implement the District Safety Plan
Physical Requirements: - Lifting 30 - 50 pounds
- Frequent and prolonged standing, walking and bending
- Ability to move freely around the building
- Exposure to noise and activity levels associated with school life
