Our Food Services team is currently seeking a Part-Time Food Service Leader for our front of the house (FOH) operations.

This position, under limited supervision, leads and coordinates the activities and operations of food service areas, including the supervision of Food Service Associates in the preparation of food. This position ensures excellent customer service while maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the food service area. This position is a PT non-exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Essential Job Functions Duties will include, but are not limited to the following
  • Assists in training and motivation of new and existing employees.
  • Assists in development of training programs.
  • Sets up event spaces for day of as well as upcoming events.
  • Prepare all equipment needed for daily and future events.
  • Leads staff through day off execution of assigned events.
  • Reads event worksheets and completes paperwork for daily assigned events.
  • Notifies management if low on any stock that will need ordered.
  • Motivate staff to complete their tasks to the best of their abilities.
  • Assists in development of new reward/recognition program ideas.
  • Exceeds all sanitation standards set forth by the Health Inspector and Management.
Minimum Training & Qualifications:
  • Prefer 1-2 years of experience in food service supervision or an equivalent combination of culinary training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
  • Certification in food service sanitation a plus.
  • Candidates must be able to take direction, work independently and multi-task.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills are a plus.
  • Must have the physical ability to work on your feet and be outdoors for several hours at a time.
  • The Toledo Zoo is a drug-free workplace, including marijuana.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to be insured through Zoo fleet carrier.
  • Work schedules include weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
