Position Summary: Full Time Shift: 10:00am - 6:30pm (Monday - Friday and every other weekend) Every other week the Friday shift will be 5:00am - 1:30pm Compensation: $15.000-$18.00 per hour - Based on experience This position works any of the follow positions listed as needed to provide quality nutritional care to our residents through accurate and sanitary food preparation and service, and cleaning and sanitizing activities. This position functions under strict Federal, State and local regulations, which must be learned and practiced.
Job Duties: - Prepares breakfast, lunch and dinner items using and maintaining recipes and production counts.
- Portions and plates food for the Vista Place dining room and the Pavilion.
- Takes and records temperatures of all the hot and cold food items to be served.
- Ensures cost containment through correct production, portioning, and sanitary food handling.
- Uses equipment safely, reporting equipment problems promptly.
- Covers, labels, dates, and refrigerates all food prepared in advance of need.
- Washes all pots, pans and cooking utensils as work is completed.
- Performs all production and clean-up duties as assigned.
- Accurately records and appropriately communicates all information coming into Vista Place Dining.
- Plans cooking schedule to have food ready on time.
- Reviews menus to determine type and quantities of meats, vegetables and soups to prepare.
- Confers with manager/supervisor regarding preparation problems or changes.
- Procures food items from the refrigerator, freezer or store room.
- Cleans, trims and cuts meats as needed.
- Prepares vegetables.
- Measures and mixes ingredients according to recipes and correctly converts recipes to adjust for quantities needed.
- Inspects foods and meats in storage.
- Maintains sanitary and clean ranges, work tables, equipment and refrigerators.
- Utilizes, stores or disposes of all edible foods according to directions of manager/supervisor.
- Informs manager/supervisor of any irregularities of quantity or quality of food purchased.
- Responsible for handling and preparing food in accordance with sanitation regulations.
- Completes assigned cleaning within the time period given.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures of the organization and all federal and state laws regarding the privacy of protected health information.
- Performs other duties as directed.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: The ability to read, follow directions and document as needed is necessary. Must be able to read small print such as on measuring containers and manometers. Must be able to discriminate subtle color differences as in skin tones and packaging materials.
The ability to pass a drug test, including testing for marijuana. Minimum Experience: Previous experience in cooking desired.
