SUMMARY: The Food Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining all aspects of food safety, regulatory and quality assurance programs for our company. This includes monitoring and ensuring compliance with USDA, FSMA, and HACCP standards by all departments, and customer-driven vendor audits. Other areas of responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
DUTIES:
- Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining all aspects of the Crisis Management Program including leading Product Traceability, reviewing current procedures with regular spot checks and overseeing the Trace Recall Program, leading the Mock Recall Team to ensure effective and timely recalls could be performed if required.
- Direct the supervision and maintenance of all company Quality programs such as GMPs, HACCP programs, Sanitation, Microbiology, Audits, Product Testing and Traceability, and Recall program.
- Oversee the supervision and maintenance of all Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Quality Control Procedures, Laboratory Test Procedures, Product Specifications, Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), and Laboratory Safety programs.
- Maintain soft and hard copies of HACCP and Food Safety Program as required
- Oversee the implementation of the requirements, policies, procedures, programs and training components of the food safety system.
- Execute all food safety related strategies, policies and procedures; maintain open communication with all related departments to address the identification of food safety hazards and process improvement opportunities
- Oversee vulnerability assessment, and develops mitigations for the Food Defense Program to ensure requirements are carried out in a timely, accurate manner to decrease risk of Intentional Adulteration
- Participation in Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) audits by independent third parties, customers, internal, and regulatory entities. Analyze results and gather corrective action plans for audit non-conformance. Review final results with President
- Complete Regulatory Visit Report and document corrective action plans for non-conformances identified in Local, State, Federal regulatory inspections
- Follow-up promptly and thoroughly on food safety complaints from customers. Effectively communicate resolutions to internal and external stakeholders as needed.
- Maintain HACCP manager and internal auditor certificates
- Demonstrate excellent skills in teamwork, problem solving and decision making, communication and leadership, organization, motivation to achieve results, and the ability to motivate others.
- Complete all forms relating to general food safety, corrective action, departmental maintenance of the food safety programs and customer requests for vendor/supplier documents.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Computer skills are required in Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel. The position is full-time, requiring excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree or higher required in Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, Enology or related field, plus minimum of three years related Food Safety experience in the Food, Beverage, Dairy and/or Wine Industry. Must have HACCP training and certification. Additional Food Safety experience such as SQF, GFSI, and FSMA.

Effectively communicate and respond to Laboratory staff, managers, clients, and customers.

- Other Requirements
Intermediate or higher level of experience with Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheet applications, network and internet applications.
