Schedule: M, W, Th, F, 8am - 4:30pm; T, 7am - 3:30pm

SUMMARY: As the Food and Inventory Clerk, you will play a key role in our mission to provide compassionate, restorative care to individuals facing homelessness, mental health challenges, and substance addiction. You will ensure that unhoused clients are able to receive a meal, and housed clients receive groceries as they continue to reach their goal of permanent housing and retention.
You may be the first point of contact for clients, fostering a welcoming environment that supports their progress. Using evidence-based approaches like harm reduction, housing-first, and trauma-informed care, you'll engage with clients, ensure adherence to program guidelines, and maintain a safe, well-kept facility. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the kitchen responsibilities and being completed on time, complete all admin tasks, stats, log sheet, ensure the kitchen stays up to code and ready for inspection by our collaborators.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Program Manager, The Food and Inventory Clerk is responsible for:
- Organize and stock storage areas (food, cleaning/household/hygiene supplies, etc.)
- Coordinate and assemble daily lunches
- Provide directions and coordination for kitchen & clothing room volunteers
- Organization, and upkeep clothing closet
- Organization, transport and storage of donation items
- Ensure the smooth operation, cleanliness, and organization of the kitchen
- Maintain an accurate inventory of food deliveries on a weekly basis and a count of all lunches distributed daily, document and record daily lunch data
- Plan weekly menu for food program, utilizing FDA nutritional guidelines
- Clean the pantry/kitchen area and the clothing room
- Monitor and supervise delivery of food and clothing donations
- Ensure high nutritional standards in accordance with USDA recommended guidelines
- Use proper food handling techniques per LA County Health Dept. guidelines
- Perform the weekly pickup of food from the food bank
- Monitor the distribution of the Grocery program; ensure files are updated
- Re-certify clients into the Grocery program annually
- Assist with administrative tasks as needed by the Program Manager
- Assist staff in maintaining order and a smooth flow of services throughout the day
- Participate in all case files, staff meetings, supervision, team meetings, training, and retreats
- Participate in on-going self-evaluation, and development/modification
- Communicate effectively and promptly with management team, peers, collaborators and clients
- Participate in on-going self-evaluation, program evaluation, and development/modification
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: - High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current, valid California Driver's license
- Time Management Skills, Organizational Skills and Clear Communication
Work Environment: - Mostly kitchen environment; on the road weekly for pickups and deliveries
- May necessitate working in a busy and loud environment
- May be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise and odor
- Will be required to stand for long periods of time
- May require working in elevated temperatures in kitchen
- Will need frequently to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less
