What you will own

  • Educational Support: Implement age-appropriate lesson plans and classroom activities, cover for teachers during absences, support classroom management, and engage with children during activities.
  • Family Services Support: Assist with home visits and parent-teacher conferences, coordinate family engagement activities, connect families with community resources, and maintain accurate family records.
  • Nutritional Support: Prepare and serve meals and snacks, facilitate family-style dining, promote healthy eating habits and table manners, and ensure food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Administrative Support: Maintain accurate records of attendance, activities, and developmental progress, complete required documentation and reports, and ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and regulations.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training, collaborate with colleagues, contribute to team meetings, and stay informed about best practices in early childhood education, family services, and nutrition.

Skills you will bring to the table

  • Understanding of child development and early childhood education principles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Basic proficiency in using technology for educational and administrative purposes.

Non-negotiables

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and kneeling is expected.
  • Ability to engage in activities that require physical movement and interaction with children.
