POSITION: Fitness FIRST Exercise Specialist

SUPERVISOR: Fitness FIRST Manager

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for supervision and progression of exercise, basic equipment maintenance, and development of strong working relationship with site staff.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: ACE Personal Trainer Certification or other nationally recognized equivalent preferred. Must be CPR certified and have a desire to learn about supported exercise tests and exercise programming for adults. Training is provided on the job. Strong customer service and communication skills required. Computer proficiency required. Ability to work with older adults. Ability to travel to multiple locations.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide clients with the level of assistance in the exercise program that they require.
  2. Progress clients' exercise program at an appropriate pace.
  3. Add or modify additional exercises to ensure that clients are meeting their goals and receiving help for tasks with which they have difficulty.
  4. Follow outlined policy for wiping down machines.
  5. Follow outlined policy for basic equipment maintenance.
  6. Communicate all significant client problems to Fitness FIRST Manager.
  7. Facilitate the documentation required for new clients and maintaining client records.
  8. Complete initial, 12 week (24 sessions) and annual assessments on all clients
  9. maintain client information in the FOMS database
  10. Develop and maintain a strong relationship with site staff so as to maintain a smooth referral process and client care.
  11. Be able to answer questions regarding Fitness FIRST and the application process so that perspective clients and their family members are informed on the process.
  12. Work collaboratively with the Manager to increase membership participation
  13. Agree to work as assigned. Given the nature of this work, any and all employees will sometimes be required to work outside their regularly scheduled hours/days. Advance notice is not always possible but will be given when it is.
  14. Other program/agency related duties as assigned by supervisor.
