Nuveen's Leveraged Finance team is seeking to hire an experienced industry coverage analyst across leveraged loans, high yield, and convertibles. The Leveraged Finance platform at Nuveen applies a collaborative and team-based approach to rigorous fundamental underwriting across the capital structure and risk spectrum, from higher quality non-investment grade to distressed situations. The team's philosophy is to invest in liquid capital structures, both long and short, where relative value dislocations and event driven catalysts exist. Leveraged Finance manages $42 billion in AUM, and its investment strategies include hedge funds, separately managed accounts, comingled strategies and sub-advisory mandates for both retail and institutional clients, including Nuveen's parent company, TIAA-CREF.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Assume primary coverage for sectors in the non-investment grade universe
- Build and maintain views and recommendations for long and short investments across the risk spectrum, from high quality BB to stressed situations
- Underwrite new issues and secondary ideas across loans, high yield and convertible bonds, both from a long and short perspective
- Actively monitor investments and taking predictive approach to managing risk exposures
- Perform ESG analysis and monitoring for portfolio companies; engage management teams on ESG related issues

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience covering leveraged loans and/or high yield
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience covering leveraged loans and/or high yield
- Experience covering i) metals and mining, ii) aerospace and defense, and/or power and utilities a plus
- Mastery of Excel and Bloomberg
- Strong critical thinking skills with deep understanding of business drivers and risks
- Proactive and predictive approach to managing investment risk
- Self-starter with the ability to work well under pressure, prioritize and multitask
- Strong communication and writing skills; ability to clearly and succinctly articulate thesis and views
- Accurate and strong attention to detail
Anticipated Posting End Date: 2025-04-28
Base Pay Range: $118,100/yr. - $180,000/yr.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
