Reports to: Director of Fitness
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and participate in vigorous physical fitness related activities both indoors and outdoors.
Schedule: 40 hours per week / 5 days - primarily evenings until close at 9pm, with availability on weekends & holidays
Ability to Commute/Relocate: Irving, TX 75038: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
Job Summary The Nelson Golf & Sports Club ("The Nelson") is a fine private country club offering premier amenities, including a world-class golf course, exquisite dining, state-of-the-art fitness facilities, and a vibrant social calendar. Under the leadership of the Director of Fitness and the Fitness Operations Manager, the Fitness Department ("Department") Supervisor leads their team in delivering an exceptional Member and Guest experience, sets the example for outstanding staff performance, and maintains quality standards for cleanliness and care of facilities.
Qualifications and Skills - High School Diploma or GED with a basic understanding of exercise science preferred.
- Integrity, professionalism, reliability, strong work ethic and initiative.
- Proven track record of excellence in customer service.
- At least six months experience in an operations role, preferably in a high-end fitness facility or country club.
- Current CPR and AED certification or willingness to get certified within 90 days of employment.
- Familiar with fitness equipment and facilities.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and ability to become adept at Club software programs and technology.
- Leadership, teamwork, interpersonal skills, communication skills, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and committed to learning, personal growth, and continual process improvement.
- Must be flexible, adaptive to change, and empathetic.
Job Responsibilities Customer Service
- Set the example for exceptional customer service in Fitness Attendant job duties.
- Greet and check-in all Members and guests at the Fitness Center entrance. Properly register Member guests and charge guest fees.
- Offer amenities and orientation of the Fitness Center or Locker Rooms.
- Assist Members and Guests in a safe and helpful manner on the basic use of equipment.
- Handle all Member and guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism.
- Assist Members and Guests in all inquiries in connection with Club services.
- Assist Members and Guests with booking Group Exercise classes and personal trainers, and other Fitness Center services.
- Respectfully communicate Club rules and polices to Members and Guests.
- Gracefully resolve Member and Guest complaints and provide feedback to leadership.
Operations
- Perform all Fitness Desk Attendant duties, including opening, closing, and daily operational tasks, as well as checking in Members and Guests.
- Monitor all activities within the Fitness Center and Locker Rooms and ensure standards are met for operations and staff performance.
- Ensure compliance with daily operating procedures and task lists. Walk through all areas of the Fitness Center and Locker Rooms, ensuring they are clean, well-maintained and adequately stocked. Assist with providing daily care and cleaning of all equipment, workstations, studios and Member areas.
- Monitor supply levels in the Fitness Center and Locker Rooms and provide supply orders to the Fitness Operations Manager and Director of Fitness.
- Ensure all fitness equipment is in good working order. Regularly perform basic preventative equipment maintenance. Promptly address functional or safety issues with equipment and facilities, including performing basic repairs and contacting vendors for service and support.
- Develop a complete knowledge of safety and emergency policies and procedures.
- Address any safety or emergency issues with urgency and discretion.
- Assist with training and overseeing staff on emergency and safety procedures and protocols, including incident handling and reporting procedures.
- Ability to offer CPR or First Aid.
- Lead and support Fitness Center activities, challenges, events, and workshops.
Leadership and Teamwork
- Assist the Fitness Operations Manager and Director of Fitness in training staff members on all Club and department policies, rules, procedures and performance expectations.
- Report personnel and performance issues to the Fitness Operations Manager and Director of Fitness.
- Support strong teamwork and engagement among team members. Contribute to team building and staff recognition activities.
- Participate in and contribute to team meetings.
- Assist other departments as needed and work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and leadership.
Perform other duties as assigned.
