Job Summary
Fitness Specialists work to improve the health and wellness of clients with guidance from Exercise Physiologists/Exercise Specialists and ensure the client's safe and proper use of equipment.

Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:

• Assist in training of clients as directed by the Exercise Physiologist and Exercise Specialists

• Ensure safe use of exercise equipment by all members and program attendees

• Handle the restocking of gym products including towels and cleaning supplies

• Assist in training/teaching specific group exercise classes including but not limited to: cycle/spin, HIIT, strength based circuits, SkillX, yoga, ect.

• Assist with front desk duties including member account management

• Maintain cleanliness and safety protocol of exercise equipment

• Educate family members on physical fitness techniques to transition their loved one from hospital-based fitness program to a safe and effective home exercise program

Education and Experience

• AA/AS degree in Exercise Science in a related field or currently completing bachelor's degree in approved field.

Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations

• CPR/BLS- Basic Life Skills Certification within 30 days of hire into the role

Skills and Abilities

• Medical Fitness certifications a plus (ie. ACSM CPT, NASM CPT)

• Communicate effectively using appropriate industry related vocabulary and grammar when speaking to clients/patients regarding their health and exercise regimens

• Current knowledge of exercise testing assessments and exercise prescription program design

• Possess a high degree of accuracy in executing fitness prescriptions, receiving and translating information, evaluating results, charting, and reporting

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
The fitness specialist will need to carry out close working relationships with many people including but not limited to clinical staff, patients, their family members and/or caregivers.

Physical Capabilities
Good physical stamina, be able to be on feet most of the day and be fairly strong and energetic. Work frequently requires walking, standing, talking, hearing, listening, use of indoor and outdoor workout equipment, including but not limited to: treadmills, cycles, strength training circuit and audiovisual equipment. Must be able to work long hours that include weekends

Environmental/Working Conditions: This position is subject to inside environmental changes that may include constant change in temperatures.
