GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, assists in coordinating recreation programs and facilitating use of City facilities to ensure customer satisfaction and safety for employees, members and visitors at DAS REC, New Braunfels Recreation Center.
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesPRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties

- Assists in ensuring the delivery of high quality and consistent programs and services to the community.
- Assists supervisors in monitoring gym and fitness center activities.
- Prepares and assists in maintaining facilities including but not limited to DAS REC, New Braunfels Recreation Center to ensure a safe condition and to meet community needs; must be in compliance with the City's strategic objectives, policies and procedures, and State and Federal laws.
- Assists staff with activity programming and crowd control measures.
- Assists in promoting recreation programs, City facilities and city-wide special events coordination and setup.
- Performs basic administrative activities including accident/injury and work activity reports.
- Monitors facility and equipment use by the public.
- Performs basic grounds keeping and janitorial tasks.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Education, Experience, Licenses and CertificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education and Experience: Must be sixteen (16) years of age AND one (1) year customer service/public interaction experience preferred.
Required Licenses or Certifications: - Must possess or be able to obtain within two (2) weeks of employment: Community First Aid and Safety/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) / Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification.
Knowledge, Skills and Other RequirementsRequired Knowledge of: - Principles and practices of customer service.
- Federal and State safety laws and regulations.
Required Skill in: - Interpreting customer and facility needs and solving customer service and public relations issues.
- Analyzing problems, providing alternatives, and identifying solutions in support of established goals.
- Responding to emergencies and determining corrective actions using available resources.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships with City employees, facility lessees and guests, event sponsors and vendors, and the general public.
- Effective, clear and concise communication, both verbally and in writing.
Physical Demands / Work Environment: - Work is performed primarily indoors in all weather conditions, with potential exposure to hazardous chemicals; is subject to sitting, standing, bending and reaching for extended periods of time swimming, riding in or operating motorized or manually operated watercraft and must be able to safely pull, push, lift and carry items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Must be able to work irregular hours including weekdays, weekends, holidays and evenings.
- Must be willing to assist patrons.
- May be required to work immediately before, during or after an emergency or disaster.
