Job Title: Fitness Director
Pay Range w/opportunity to earn more through Commissions $64,350-$84,800 Full-time.
Job Purpose- Lead the development, promotion and marketing of competitively superior fitness programs, trainings and services.
- Hire, direct, train, develop and motivate the fitness team to exceed member service expectations and drive personal training and fitness program income.
- Maintain the facilities in a neat and orderly manner with equipment operating efficiently at all times.
Manages Operations - Monitor the fitness center to ensure that the members are certain that we care about their well-being.
- Maintain a state-of-the-art fitness center, ensure equipment is clean, presentable and in outstanding condition
- Prepare marketing plans to promote offerings in accordance with our brand
- Maintain small equipment, order supplies and monitor equipment inventories
- Complete equipment research and recommendations for future needs
Staff Results- Communicate job expectations and align them with the company mission statement and core values
- Plan, monitor and appraise performance results by following job review standards and schedule
- Ensure timely review of staff compensation packages
- Coach and discipline staff
- Initiate, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, and procedures
- Provide ongoing training for all staff to reinforce department standards and provide opportunities for enhancement of professional skills.
- Conduct monthly staff meetings
- Develop and maintain an optimal staffing plan for the fitness floor and HIIT Row Studio and programs to assure safe and clean facility
- Instruct all staff on proper procedures for booking trainings, completing time sheets, and payment options for clients
- Provide leadership to the staff in an effort to teach them how to meet/exceed member expectations on an ongoing basis
- Inspire team behaviors which are motivating to members and assist in creating commitment to a healthy lifestyle
- Carefully recruit, select, orient, train, evaluate and terminate staff
- Maintain a continuing education and training program for the staff and ensure required certifications are kept current
- Ensure exceptional quality in all staff and develop personal growth opportunities
- Nurture a strong key staff team with specific and defined responsibilities
- Show attention to detail in maintaining a safe and secure work environment.
Department Strategy and Planning - Assemble and analyze critical information, control expenses, and update projections.
- Recommend actions to improve profits; develop a yearly business plan and budget and monitor outcomes
- Operate within said budgets and ensure income statements and expense reporting is accurate and up to date
- Develop, market, and implement new and innovative programming, both free to member and paid services
- Partner with all departments to provide genuine hospitality to our membership
Professional and Technical Knowledge Ongoing Club Fit Training through 1huddle including, but not limited to:
- Bloodborne Pathogens, Emergency Response Protocol (ERP), Sexual Harassment, & Cyber Security
- Professional Certification
- CPR/AED & First Aid (within 30 days of hire)
Education and Experience
- College degree in Fitness related area (or Nationally Recognized Personal Training Certification)
- At least 2 years of management experience
Other
- Attend manager meetings and new manager trainings as required
- Maintain proficiency and knowledge of current industry trends, equipment, tools, and software
- Participate in educational opportunities to develop management skills and review professional publications
- Demonstrate a commitment to embracing the neighborhood by establishing personal networks
Team Work - Respond to Member feedback
- Participate in the Manager on Duty program by performing the responsibilities of a Hospitality Supervisor
- Participate in internal and external community events with focus on promoting Club Fit programs and services
- Attend weekly manager meetings, weekly GM meetings, and monthly dual club meetings
- Interact and work with staff at all levels in the club
Job Requirements - Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to lift 45 lbs
- Ability to understand and communicate both verbally and written in English
- Ability to follow directions
- Ability to think independently and suggest effective solutions to potential challenges
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as required by business needs
- Ability to understand and comply with all company safety policies and their requirements. This includes attendance at training meetings as scheduled.
