Why You'll Love This Role:

The Fitness Coordinator is part of the BSF Wellness staff and focuses on development, implementation, promotion and evaluation of all fitness services and some Wellness programs, including activities requested/initiated from staff and residents. Ensures that all aspects of the community's "Culture of Wellness" are afforded the residents and staff, recognizing the impact this makes on their quality of life.

What You'll Do:
  • Design and Oversee Programs: Plan, implement, and regularly evaluate a full range of fitness classes, personal training, and wellness activities for residents, employees, and different levels of care across the campus.
  • Collaborate and Network: Work closely with other departments and maintain strong partnerships with external vendors, schools, and organizations to enhance program offerings and resources.
  • Supervise and Train Staff: Coordinate, schedule, train, and provide leadership to part-time and contractual fitness/pool staff to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
  • Direct Resident and Staff Services: Lead classes, provide one-on-one fitness counseling and personal training, conduct assessments, and oversee safe use of all fitness and wellness spaces.
  • Safety, Maintenance, and Compliance: Maintain equipment, enforce safety protocols, participate in emergency drills, and ensure all certifications and regulatory requirements are up to date.
  • Promote Wellness Culture: Foster an inclusive, motivating environment that engages residents and staff in wellness activities, and support worksite wellness initiatives to promote healthy lifestyles community-wide.
Qualifications You Bring:
  • Required
    • College degree in Exercise Science/Fitness/Health and Wellness or related field and two years related experience. Experience with seniors a plus. At least one of the following: ACSM, ACE, AFAA, Silver Sneakers or related certification. Current Personal Training certification.
    • Experience providing evidence-based programs/classes, fitness assessments/evaluations, counseling, motivational/retention strategies, one-on-one coaching/personal training and exercise prescriptions.
    • CPR/AED certified or able to successfully complete in house CPR course/exam
    • Lifeguarding/First Aid certification/ being certification-ready is required
    • Knowledge in strength, flexibility, balance and aerobic training including floor/chair exercise, conditioning and use of cardio/strength and other exercise/fitness testing equipment
    • Computer savvy
    • Effective and engaging in all forms of communication and strong interpersonal skills
    • Positive attitude, team-building skills, makes a professional impression, emphasizes customer service
    • Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned
  • Preferred:
    • Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid certification preferred
    • Personal Trainer or equivalent certification preferred
    • Group Exercise or equivalent certification preferred
    • Experience working with Older Adults preferred
