Why You'll Love This Role:

The Fitness Coordinator is part of the BSF Wellness staff and focuses on development, implementation, promotion and evaluation of all fitness services and some Wellness programs, including activities requested/initiated from staff and residents. Ensures that all aspects of the community's "Culture of Wellness" are afforded the residents and staff, recognizing the impact this makes on their quality of life.

What You'll Do:
  • Plan and execute activities to enhance the quality of life for residents, considering their cognitive abilities and personal history.
  • Maintain necessary documentation per state and federal regulations, including resident assessments and the Minimum Data Set.
  • Develop and implement interdisciplinary care/support plans and activity progress notes for residents.
  • Supervise and schedule volunteers for resident activities.
  • Foster effective interpersonal working relationships within the team at Providence Point.
  • Create and implement monthly, weekly, or daily activity calendars and budgets.
  • Train nurses' aides in person-centered activities and stay updated on innovative program concepts.
  • Encourage residents to suggest and participate in outings, educational programs, and social events.
Qualifications You Bring:
  • Required
    • College degree in Exercise Science/Fitness/Health and Wellness or related field and two years related experience. Experience with seniors a plus. At least one of the following: ACSM, ACE, AFAA, Silver Sneakers or related certification. Current Personal Training certification.
    • Experience providing evidence-based programs/classes, fitness assessments/evaluations, counseling, motivational/retention strategies, one-on-one coaching/personal training and exercise prescriptions.
    • CPR/AED certified or able to successfully complete in house CPR course/exam
    • Lifeguarding/First Aid certification/ being certification-ready is required
    • Knowledge in strength, flexibility, balance and aerobic training including floor/chair exercise, conditioning and use of cardio/strength and other exercise/fitness testing equipment
    • Computer savvy
    • Effective and engaging in all forms of communication and strong interpersonal skills
    • Positive attitude, team-building skills, makes a professional impression, emphasizes customer service
    • Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned
  • Preferred:
    • Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid certification preferred
    • Personal Trainer or equivalent certification preferred
    • Group Exercise or equivalent certification preferred
    • Experience working with Older Adults preferred
