The
Fitness Center Attendant at
American Airlines - The Landing at Skyview 6is responsible for ensuring great member and guest service by providing assistance with fitness center equipment and enforcing fitness center rules. Operational duties include but are not limited to maintaining a clean and organized fitness center, ensuring a safe environment for all members.
RESPONSIBILITIES: - Greet members as they arrive and answer basic questions about the gym's services, hours, or amenities.
- Monitor exercise participants to ensure safety.
- Ensure that towels, mats, and other gym accessories are properly stored and available for use.
- Check that all areas are free from clutter or hazards to ensure the safety and comfort of members.
- Help members understand how to use the equipment properly, and provide assistance with equipment set-up and usage if necessary.
- Ensure that equipment is returned to its proper place after use and that free weights and accessories are organized.
- Monitor members during workouts to ensure they're using equipment safely and following fitness center rules.
- Enforce fitness center rules, such as proper attire, safe equipment use, and appropriate behavior.
- Co-inspect the courts/facilities daily prior to the start of play and ascertain that all necessary maintenance has been performed.
- Review communication logbook at the start of each shift. Record information regarding member/guest issues, housekeeping, engineering, pools to shift supervisor/manager.
- Be alert to any emergency situations or accidents and respond quickly, either by offering assistance, performing first aid, assisting with evacuation procedures, or contacting appropriate staff or emergency responders.
- Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to management.
- Report any incidences in a timely manner.
- Keep inventory of locker room items and order more when inventory gets low.
- Keep management informed on the status of any non-functioning equipment for the purpose of budgeting, replacement, and/or repair.
- Provide coverage and oversight for the facility ensuring member safety; respond to questions regarding facility operations.
- Manage the lost and found area by tracking and storing any items left behind by members.
- Assist members in locating lost belongings and keep the area organized.
- Manage administrative tasks related to fitness facility operations.
- Help in the preparation and presentation of all special events.
- Assist with additional duties as assigned to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
REQUIREMENTS: - Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification is required.
- Current certification from a nationally accredited industry association such as NASM, ACSM, NSCA, ACE is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively, effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds at all levels of the organization.
- A Monday - Sunday schedule that allows availability to work weekdays, holidays, and weekends based on the demands of the hotel.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or greater at one time.
- Ability to remain on feet most of the workday.
- Function of total body movements and movement patterns to be able to demonstrate proper technique.
- Physical demands include, but are not limited to bending, squatting, jumping, running, reaching, walking, hopping, spinning, and kicking.
- Often required to stand, walk, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- The ability to move freely in and around obstacles common in gyms.
- At least 6 months of industry experience, including relevant internships.
