This position performs high-level professional work in the Office of Eligibility and Support Services in fiscal management and Budget administration. We are seeking an experienced Administrative Specialist to support financial operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance with Federal, State and County funds. In this role, you will oversee budgeting processes, manage fiscal records, and provide administrative support to maintain smooth financial workflows. This includes contract development and administration, invoice review & processing, reporting, and advising senior leadership of current/projected grants management concerns as well as potential cures for their timely resolution. What You'll Be Doing We are seeking a detail-oriented Administrative Specialist to support our fiscal and budget operations. This role involves managing financial records, assisting with budget preparation, and ensuring compliance with financial policies. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in administrative and financial processes
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in budget planning, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
- Process invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports.
- Monitor expenditures and ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines.
- Prepare financial summaries and reports for management review.
- Support audits and financial reviews by gathering necessary documentation.
- Coordinate administrative tasks related to fiscal operations.
- Communicate with vendors, departments, and stakeholders regarding financial matters.
Minimum Qualifications Experience: Two (2) years of professional administrative experience in fiscal management and budget administration.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree.

1. EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
2. EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for year basis.
Preferred Criteria, Interview Preferences We will use preferred criteria screening questions:
- Do you have (2) years of professional administrative experience in fiscal management and budget administration?
- Do you have experience with accounting software and Excel or other financial management tools?
We will use interview preference criteria:
- Five (5) years minimum experience in budget development and management.
- Current knowledge of Montgomery County's budget/fiscal processes is preferred.
- Advanced analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact with various departments and stakeholders regarding financial matters
- Experience with accounting software, Excel, and other financial management tools.
