The
Firmware Engineer Intern is responsible for assisting in developing, testing, and debugging firmware, conducting bench modifications, and creating hardware/firmware prototypes. This role requires knowledge of C programming, real-time embedded systems, and firmware development. Our interns work on real-world projects in collaboration with teams of skilled professionals, while solving complex problems along the way. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the development, testing, and debugging firmware for real-time embedded systems, with an emphasis on C programming.
- Conduct bench modifications and rapidly develop hardware/firmware prototypes.
- Perform system-level bring-up and debugging of embedded systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the development of new products and technologies.
- Share knowledge and expertise to foster a collaborative team environment.
- Document firmware development processes, testing protocols, and debugging procedures.
- Ensure firmware quality through proper testing, code reviews, and adherence to best practices.
- Works on problems of moderate scope which are often varied and routine where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
- Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering.
- Must have at least one additional quarter/semester of school remaining following the completion of the 2025 internship program.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to work on-site at the San Jose, CA office (5 days per week)
- Available to begin internship in June 2025
- Must be able to stand and sit for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
- Daily repetitive motions with fingers, hands, and arms.
- Can routinely lift objects between 20-25 pounds.
Please note:
No relocation assistance or housing stipend is allotted for this position. The base pay range for this internship is USD $30-35 per hour. This is a set pay range applicable to the specific San Jose, CA work location, within the San Francisco Bay Area.
