Job Title: FPGA Engineer: Senior Firmware Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Embedded Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for writing, simulating, and debugging HDL code for FPGA designs, as well as writing and debugging microcontroller code. You will also use Matlab and Simulink to model electrical power systems and optimize system design through your knowledge of both digital hardware and software. You will collaborate closely with electrical power and controls engineers to develop advanced power control firmware.

Responsibilities
  • Write, simulate, and debug HDL code for FPGA designs.
  • Write and debug microcontroller code.
  • Use Matlab and Simulink to model electrical power systems.
  • Optimize system design using both digital hardware and software knowledge.
  • Collaborate with electrical power and controls engineers to develop advanced power control firmware.
  • Design internal circuits and write code that interfaces FPGA to microcontroller.
  • Work with ARM AMBA AHB or AX systems.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in writing, simulating, and debugging HDL code for FPGA design.
  • Experience in writing and debugging microcontroller code.
  • Understanding of system-level design when writing software and designing hardware.
  • Proficiency in Matlab and Simulink.
  • Experience with digital circuits and digital design.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE or MSEE).
  • 5+ years of experience in embedded systems hardware and software design.
  • Preferred experience with VHDL; Verilog experience may also be acceptable.
  • Experience with RTOS.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, memory bus, ARM AMBA AHB or AX, CAN, RS485, Ethernet, Ethercat, USB, and Fiber Optics.
  • Experience with switching power converter control.
  • Experience in motor control.
Work Environment

The work environment involves collaborating with a team of engineers, utilizing a range of technologies, and working with FPGA and microcontroller interfaces. You will work with advanced digital circuits and software tools like Matlab and Simulink. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to work on complex systems to optimize performance and functionality.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $120000.00/yr.

401k matches 100% of the first 1% employee contribution, and 50% of the next 5% of employee contribution, for a total company match of 3.5%.

Workplace Type

This is an onsite position in Oak Creek, Wisconsin offering an average of 2 days/week remote.
