Volunteer Committee Member Opportunity - finEQUITY finEQUITY is seeking passionate and dedicated committee members to support our board in achieving key goals for the upcoming year. As a committee member, you'll play an essential role in advancing our work supporting justice-impacted individuals in building financial health.This is a meaningful opportunity to engage with a nonprofit, gain governance experience, and shape initiatives that create lasting impact.
Important Note: This is not a board role, and committee members will not have voting power on board decisions. Volunteer Committee Members can lend their expertise in the following areas: Nominating & Development - Identifying and recruiting new committee members
- Coordinating training and leadership development
- Ensuring alignment with organizational needs
Finance, Compliance, Infrastructure & Performance - Providing financial oversight and reviewing budgets
- Supporting policy development and organizational evaluations
Marketing, Communications, PR & Fundraising - Developing outreach strategies and fundraising initiatives
- Identifying media opportunities to expand finEQUITY's reach
Time Commitment/Term: - Attend quarterly committee meetings (approximately two hours per meeting)
- One-year term with an option for renewal based on mutual agreement
Committee Goals for the Year The committee will focus on key initiatives to strengthen finEQUITY's leadership and organizational foundation:
- Plan and execute a pilot fundraising event to establish a reliable revenue stream
- Recruit new board members and elect an independent chair to diversify leadership
- Develop and implement financial oversight policies
- Organize board governance training to improve effectiveness
- Create a comprehensive board manual and onboarding protocol
Qualifications Required: - Proven leadership experience in finance, marketing, communications, or development
- Passion for advancing financial health for justice-impacted individuals and families
- Ability to engage in discussions, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively
Preferred (Not Required): - Experience in nonprofit governance or committee work
Secretary Role Opportunity- finEQUITY is also seeking a Secretary to help keep committee operations organized. Key Responsibilities:
- Record and distribute meeting minutes
- Maintain accurate documentation
- Ensure organized record-keeping
